May 17, 2016

We arrive in Atlanta at 6:30 AM, dead tired and jet lagged.  We have a 3 1/2 hr layover, which is good for getting through customs.

At 10:55 AM we leave Atlanta and arrive home at 12:15 PM.

Such a great trip and so many stories to tell.

After breakfast we transfer to the Victoria Falls Airport for our flight back to Johannesburg and our overnight 16 1/2 hr flight to Atlanta Georgia.

Our flight from Victoria falls was 2 hours late leaving due to computer problems.  We had about 2 hours to recheck our bags on Delta and were cutting it pretty close.  We thought Suzan had gotten lost but she made it onto the plane at the last minute.  Some people will do anything for a bottle of Agrulla (sp?).  This is the liquor that is from So Africa.    We settled down for a looooooong winter's nap.

May 15, 2016

After breakfast we headed out for our walking tour of Victoria Falls.  We were handed raincoats and were told we would get wet.  They were right.

We returned to the lodge for lunch where we had a guest join us

and then headed for the Elephant Preserve for the experience of a lifetime as we went on Safari via elephant.  One good thing is that riding an elephant makes my butt look smaller. The elephants were all rescued from various places and are very well cared for.  They  have 5000 acres to roam and are put in stables at night to keep them safe from poachers.

At dinner tonight we gave Rodger his prize for taking the most pictures and Lori was the runner up. They both received a bottle of wine. Rodger received some extra "packing material".  Lori decided to share her bottle so she didn't have to carry it home.

We will have time in the morning to pack.

.
For dinner we were taken to a Boma restaurant for an authentic African dinner and entertainment

After breakfast we transferred across the border to Chobe and arrived in time for lunch and an afternoon boat cruise.  We checked into the Chobe Safari Lodge. and then took a late afternoon boat cruise.  We saw kudus, elephants, various birds, impallas, buffalo, hippos, and fish eagles  We saw a lot more on this one than the cruise last night.

We returned to the lodge for dinner and an early turn in since we have to meet at 5:45 AM for our morning game drive.

After breakfast we transferred to the Johannesburg International Airport for our flight to Victoria Falls. When we arrived we found out we had to get a visa to enter the country.  Tomsicks were smart enough to ask about a double entry visa but the rest of us will have to pay twice.  There goes another $60 to support their economy.  We were picked up by Matt at the airport who was very surprised to hear that we were not Israeli and my name was not Doron.  In fact, I think Ordo Tours have me down as Ann Doron.

We had a wonderful sunset cruise on the Zambezi River where we saw a lot of hippos and elephants and a beautiful sunset.  We had some entertainment when we waited for the boat.

After the cruise we had dinner and to bed in our mosquito enclosed bed.
